Jane's Never-Fail Cupcakes
From the kitchen of: The Garlock Girls

Great beginner's recipe. I learned to bake with this recipe about 1944 in Dumont, NJ and Anita and Marilyn cut their baking teeth on it in Oklahoma City.

Ingredients:

1 stick Butter or Margarine (softened)

1 Egg

1/2 cup Cocoa

1-1/2 cup Flour

1 tsp. Soda

1 cup Sugar

1/2 cup Buttermilk

1/2 cup HOT water

Directions:

Line cupcake tins with paper liners.

Place all ingredients into bowl and beat at medium speed till well-blended.

Bake at 350 degrees till done and toothpick comes out clean. About 20-25 minutes.

Makes about 16 cupcakes. Ice with confectioner's sugar frosting.
